2nd UIC Train Rail Hackathon 2024-2025

Calling  all creative minds in the railway industry!

The International Union of Railways (UIC) has launched the 2nd UIC Train Rail Hackathon2024-2025

For this edition, the TEDP (Talent and Expertise Development Platform) is collaborating with UIC World Congress on High-Speed Rail (WCHSR) and the Alliance of Universities for High-Speed Rail (AUHSR).

This is an event where  people from different backgrounds communicate and cooperate together in technological development. A group of designers, engineers, programmers, etc. meets to develop new ideas, offer innovative solutions to practical industry problems and manufacture product prototypes. Is not a competition in the traditional sense, but rather a gathering of creative minds.

Hackathon is one of the increasingly popular events among young people all over the globe. Creates opportunities for those and prepares them into global leaders, addressing global issues and help creating a sustainable world. Also,  eligible candidates can submit an initial project idea (topic) that they intend to develop further during the Hackathon.

- The Hackathon is open to:

  • Students currently enrolled at universities, colleges or training organisations within the corresponding region.
  • Employees working for railway enterprises in the rail sector.

You can register as an individual or as a pre-formed team, depending on your region's regulations. We encourage you to network and form a team before registering.

- Eligibility Requirements:

  • All applicants must be of legal age in their respective regions.
  • Participants should sign in by teams/individual, with a maximum of 3-5 participants per team.
  • Participants can only be part of one team.
  • Active participation is mandatory throughout the competition, including the launch, development phase, and final project presentation to the Jury.

As part of the activities, the Train Rail Hackathon aims at developing a cooperative network of training organisations and industrial partners, attracting more talent to railway companies. To ensure a truly global event, UIC is partnering with esteemed universities and organisations.
